Prehistoric Sites (near Sarlat)
Dordogne and Périgord Noir are famous for their ornate prehistoric caves registered by l'Unesco in the Humanity World Heritage. The National Museum of Prehistory (Musée National de Préhistoire) located in Eyzies, Lascaux II(replica of the original prehistoric cave with some of the most fascinating prehistoric engravings and paintings in the world) in Montignac, and various other educational and fun sites are available to help adults and children discover or deepen their knowledge of our ancestors' lifestyle.
Medieval Castles and Villages
Domme, Beynac et Cazenac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, La Roque-Gageac, are recognized to be among the most beautiful villages in France. Their beautiful castles, their charming and authentic little streets and magnificent panoramic views are not to be missed and can all be found within 10 km (6.4 miles) of your vacation rentals.
Les Eyzies
Considered by many as the World capital of Prehistory, Les Eyzies are located only about 18 km (11.2 miles) from our property. Come and see by yourself why our ancestors chose to settle in this valley over 350,000 years ago. Several itineraries and tracking games for the younger ones have been created to help you discover the various prehistoric sites dating from the Paleolithic as well as the numerous decorated caves and grottos Padirac ; Proumeyssac ... found in the area.
The "Perigord Noir" (Black Perigord)
The Périgord Noir is an exceptional region with an incredible heritage. Its many castles have been built over centuries and have been beautifully restored. From the Medieval Fortress of Castelnaud (about 8 km / 5 miles from the residence) to the Renaissance style castle previously owned by Josephine Baker le Château des Milandes (about 11 km / 6.8 miles), there is a castle for everyone and all within a short drive of your vacation rental. To the gastronomes, castles might not be the first thing that come to mind when referring to Perigord, so do not forget to taste its delicious cuisine, duck and goose delicacies and black truffles among others.
Hiking & Nature Walks in Dordogne
Many itineraries have been created in Dordogne to allow the Nature lovers to discover the beautiful natural landscaping and bounty of the Perigord Noir. Some of those are passing right in front of our residence. You can check a map of these hiking trails on the official website of the city of Saint Vincent De Cosse.
Bonus
The famous Medieval city of Sarlat la Caneda, capital of Périgord Noir, is located only 14 km (8.7 miles) away from the residence. Golf lovers will also enjoy the 2 golf courses (one 9 holes and one 18 holes) located in Siorac en Périgord at about 15 km (9.3 miles) from your vacation rentals.
